PERFORMANCE
Nissan Maxima

We all like a sense of power when behind the wheel. To put the pedal to the metal and really feel your sedan respond is exhilarating! Let’s find out just how much power these sedans can offer to enhance your drives.

Standard Outputs

The Toyota Camry has impressed many drivers with its capable engine. When equipped with the standard 2.5L Dynamic Force 4-cylinder, it generates 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

While this powertrain might be impressive, it can't compare to the standard powertrain in the Nissan Maxima. This brawnier sedan comes standard with a 3.5L V6 engine that generates 300 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque. Clearly, that's a lot of extra muscle.

Performance Features

The Maxima also features a standard Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission). CVTs are known for being far quieter and smoother than typical automatics, like the 8-speed automatic transmission you'll find standard in the Toyota Camry.

Additionally, the CVT of the Maxima comes with the Drive Mode Selector, which makes it possible for you to customize your drive experience with the touch of a button.

SAFETY
Nissan Maxima

These days, most cars come equipped with technology to help keep passengers safe in the event of an accident. The Maxima and the Camry are not exempt from this trend. Both models have safety suites you can count on.

Shared Safety

You'll find some very helpful standard safety technologies in either the Maxima or the Camry. For example, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking, in one form or another, make an appearance in both models.

Each sedan utilizes a Traction Control System as well to improve handling on rough or hazardous terrain. However, they do seem to differ in terms of sheer structural reinforcements.

Built for Safety

Both vehicles come standard with a comprehensive driver-assistance system that will keep an extra eye out for you while you’re on the road. The Nissan Maxima comes with Nissan Safety Shield® 360, which includes tools like:

  • Lane Depature Warning
  • High Beam Assist
  • Blind Spot Warning

The Maxima also comes standard with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which works in tandem with the Blind Spot Warning feature to monitor those hard-to-view spots.

While the Camry comes with many features similar to those listed above, its Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert systems are only available as a part of an optional package.

INTERIOR
Nissan Maxima

Getting on the road with the Nissan Maxima or the Toyota Camry is sure to invite comfort into your daily drives. Both vehicles are designed to help you and your passengers relax, even when on a long commute. But the question is, which vehicle comes with more features?

Interior Dimensions

Even though they both come with seating for up to five passengers, the Maxima offers more space for those riders in the front row.

With 39.1 inches of headroom and 45 inches of legroom in the Maxima, passengers riding in the front row will have plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The Camry, however, only has 38.3 inches of headroom and 42.1 inches of legroom in the front.

Amenities

While you enjoy the space, both vehicles offer cooled—or ventilated—front seats to keep you cool in warmer weather. Still, if you drive through a winter snowstorm, the standard heated front seats of the Nissan Maxima are sure to ease your chattering teeth. Heated seats are an available feature in the Toyota Camry, but they don’t come standard.

Even though they both offer heated steering wheels, only the Nissan Maxima extends some warmth to your rear-seat passengers. The Nissan sedan offers available heated rear seats on top of everything else.
