Smart Safety Features and the Nissan Rogue
The 2019 Rogue is well-equipped for safety, even offering an available suite of smart features to help you be more aware of your surroundings when you hit the road. The Nissan Safety Shield® 360 suite includes the following features:
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
- Rear Automatic Braking
- Blind Spot Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Intelligent Lane Intervention
The Rogue also has Nissan ProPILOT Assist available. This smart cruise control feature lets you set a preferred following distance. Then, if you approach slower-moving traffic on the highway, it’ll automatically adjust your cruise control speed to keep you at that distance.
If you encounter stand-still traffic, Nissan ProPILOT Assist can also automatically bring you to a complete stop and get you going again once the traffic starts moving.
Nissan Rogue: Safety in the Design
The 2019 Nissan Rogue has plenty of safety built into its design as well. With advanced zone body construction, impact-absorbing structures are combined with a high-strength cabin to help keep passengers safe should a collision occur.
For even more protection and padding, the Nissan advanced air bag system uses sensors to deploy airbags based on cabin occupancy and impact intensity. It includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags that deploy based on readings from the front seat belt sensors and front passenger occupant-classification sensors.
Roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags also deploy when the rollover sensor is activated. These airbags line the side windows with padding to protect the heads of the driver and passengers in a rollover situation.
Safe Handling Features
Even with day-to-day driving, the Rogue goes above and beyond to help you keep a firm grip on the road. It comes standard with front-wheel drive, but many drivers in our area prefer the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system.
Intelligent AWD monitors your roadway conditions and automatically redistributes torque among all four wheels as necessary to help you maintain traction under rigorous conditions. This is especially helpful for snowy winter morning commutes to the office or when dropping the kids off at school.
It also comes standard with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with a Traction Control System (TCS). VDC can help you stay sturdy when you take a turn too fast or hit a slick spot when coming around a bend. It monitors steering and braking to identify a loss of stability.
If necessary, it responds automatically by reducing engine output or applying brake pressure to specific wheels to keep you going in the right direction.
