Nissan Altima 2015
There is a very compelling list of reasons that the 2015 Nissan Altima continues to be one of the best-selling vehicles in the United States: year after year this iconic sedan proffers exceptional comfort, reliability, and features for an invariably reasonable price tag. The fact that the Altima is generally one of the more attractive sedans on the market is certainly a help as well. While the Altima is a reliably good buy, for each new model year it is worth looking closely at what this vehicle has to offer sedan buyers.
Nissan Altima 2015 Exterior
Technically, the Altima is not an upmarket vehicle – at least not in price. However, for the 2015 model year, Nissan has taken cues from the design of some of its more expensive vehicles, including models from its luxury Infiniti brand, to create a humble yet undeniably elegant aesthetic for both the interior and exterior.
The smooth, unbroken lines of the exterior bring to mind the Maxima, but the way it all comes together in the front to create a loosely angular yet graceful look for the headlights and grill is unique and most welcome for a sedan in this price range.
The design is a little more moderate and focused on straight lines, but like the exterior it is subtle interior and cool. The organization of the center console and driver controls seems especially well thought-out.
However, the most interesting touch of the Nissan Altima’s interior for 2015 is the continued use of the now somewhat famous zero gravity front seats, designed to simulate lack of gravity for maximal natural support. Personal spaceships may not be available yet, but it is nice that Nissan is making due with existing technology.
2015 Nissan Altima Features
The 2015 Altima comes standard with a respectable set of features, including power locks and windows, remote keyless entry, pushbutton transmission, and touch controls on the tilt-telescoping steering wheel as well as a few nice surprises such as Bluetooth capabilities, and a 4-inch color display. Optional features include a leather trim, a slightly larger display with navigation, a moonroof, and a rear spoiler.
Along with aesthetics and fuel efficiency, safety is one area where the 2015 Altima really excels. Included standard are all the airbags buyers would expect: front, side, and curtain, along with traction and stability control, and antilock brakes.
There is the obligatory tire pressure monitoring system that not only lets drivers know when the pressure gets to low but also very helpfully monitors the air as the tires are being filled, sounding the horn when the pressure is satisfactory. Buyers can also elect to upgrade for more safety items like lane departure warning and rearview camera. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates the 2015 Altima as a Top Safety Pick.
Nissan Altima 2015 Performance
While the Altima’s lively 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder engine paired with the continuously variable transmission makes for a fun and immediate driving experience, the top-quality Sachs shocks and independent suspension ensure a comfortable ride down most stretches of road to go with the nice degree of driver control.
2015 Nissan Altima Efficiency
It is not news that fuel prices are unlikely to come down from astronomical anytime soon and drivers are turning to hybrids in record numbers. However, with close to 40 mpg on the highway with the base engine, this Altima has little competition in the sedan world.
