2013 Nissan Juke Review
2013 Nissan Juke Reviewed
As the third model year of its nameplate, the 2013 Nissan Juke is the new kid on the block. However, the car appeals to customers who need a sports utility vehicle (SUV) that is not too big or has unconventional styling.
Classified and designed as a four-door mini SUV, the 2013 Nissan Juke is available in three trims: S, SV and SL. Manufacturer Nissan installs on each vehicle the MR16DDT: a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 188 horsepower and 177 pound-feet. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission that Nissan calls Xtronic CVT; the gearbox provides a Sport driving mode. The 2013 Juke has a front-wheel drivetrain (FWD), although there’s the option of getting an all-wheel drive instead for better driving control.
Although the Juke has decent fuel economy, the FWD version is more fuel efficient than the AWD. The front-wheel vehicle offers 27 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 32 mpg on the highway (27/32 mpg), as opposed to 25/30 mpg from the all-wheel layout. Nissan offers a six-speed manual gearbox for the FWD JUKE, which gives the vehicle a middling fuel economy of 25/31 mpg.
The 2013 Nissan Juke borrows its exterior styling from its bigger siblings, the Murano and the Rogue. However, it has a sharper, more imposing profile. Massive 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are fitted on each vehicle. Also standard are dual power side mirrors, with the SV and SL trims also getting a power moonroof. Only the top-tier SL has automatic on/off headlights and fog lights.
Although small for an SUV, the 2013 Nissan JUKE can comfortably accommodate up to five adult passengers. Standard interior features and amenities include: Bluetooth hands-free phone system, front and rear cup holders, remote keyless entry, six airbags, and an AM/FM/CD audio system with at least six speakers and MP3/WMA playback.
Nissan adds an engine push button for the keyless entry on the SV and SL version of the JUKE, as well as leather wrapping the steering wheel. Only the SL has leather seats, leather-wrapped shift knob, navigation system with a 5-inch touchscreen display, rearview monitor, and an 8-inch subwoofer and amplifier with its stereo system.
