2016 Nissan Titan XD Diesel vs. 2016 Nissan Titan XD Gas Trim

For truck drivers throughout Brockton, Randolph and Stoughton, the debate surrounding gas and diesel engines is a contentious one. Each offers their own set of advantages and selecting the right one ultimately comes down to your workload. This holds true for the 2016 Nissan Titan XD, a full-size pickup unafraid of flexing its muscles.

The Titan XD offers a gas and diesel powertrain, and Nissan 24 examines each in our comparison below. If you’re considering a 2016 Nissan Titan XD, read on to decide whether its gas or diesel engine is right for you. 2016 Titan XD Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel

A 310-horsepower 5.0L Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine producing a jaw-dropping 555 pounds-feet of torque was designed exclusively for the Titan XD. With enough muscle to transport 12,300 pounds of towing and 2,000 pounds of payload, The Titan XD’s Cummins® Turbo Diesel is engineered for the long haul.

Each Turbo Diesel comes paired to an Aisin six-speed automatic transmission for smooth gear shifts and a continuous power delivery. When you’re climbing a steep grade or navigating off-road terrain, the 2016 Titan XD’s Turbo Diesel powertrain provides the capabilities you need to get the job done.

Nissan Titan XD Endurance 5.6L 32-Valve Gas V8

If you’re not sure whether the Cummins® Turbo Diesel is right for you, the Titan XD’s Endurance 5.5L 32-Valve gas V8 might be your best option. The Titan XD’s gas engine delivers 80 more horsepower than its diesel counterpart and adds an extra 500 pounds of payload. If you use your truck to transport heavier loads in your bed, the Titan XD’s 5.6L V8 might be the best choice for you.

However, the XD’s gas engine can only haul up to 11,200 pounds, which is 1,100 less than its diesel powertrain. It also produces less torque. Choosing between gas and diesel ultimately comes down to your workload, and Nissan 24 can help you find the right configuration for your driving needs.
