Whether you’re commuting into the city for work or downtown for play, nothing is more equipped to get you there than a sedan. Today, we’re showcasing two prominent models of the sedan class: the Nissan Sentra and the Hyundai Elantra.
Which ride is the cream of the crop for folks throughout Brockton, Randolph, and Stoughton, MA? Which has the most spacious cabin and the most standard safety technologies? There’s only one way to find out: this 2021 Nissan Sentra vs. Hyundai Elantra comparison by Nissan 24!
Sentra vs. Elantra: Feeling the Need for Speed
When you think of the sedan, what’s the first adjective that comes to mind? Is it speed? Power? Agility? In the case of the 2021 Nissan Sentra, we’d apply all three.
The Sentra comes standard with a 2.0L Direct Injection Gasoline™ (DIG) 4-cylinder engine capable of delivering 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. Although the Elantra also comes standard with its own 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, it only produces 132 lb-ft of torque and 147 horsepower. This means a smoother and more thrilling drive for Sentra drivers.
Speaking of thrilling drives, the 2021 Sentra is also outfitted with Nissan’s Xtronic CVT® (Continuous Variable Transmission). This transmission applies engine braking for more confident starting and stopping. It’s great for highway drives. The Elantra does have its Smartstream® Intelligent Variable Transmission; however, it’s not combined with the horsepower and torque of the Sentra.
Nissan Sentra vs Hyundai Elantra: Making Safety Standard
The safety and well-being of everyone aboard your vehicle is paramount. The folks at Nissan and Hyundai couldn’t agree more, which is why they’ve both implemented a suite of standard safety features. Let’s check them out.
For the Sentra, this confident collection is known as Safety Shield® 360. It includes driver-assistive features, such as Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. The Elantra is comparable in the safety department, offering similar features within its standard Hyundai SmartSense safety system.
There is, however, one safety measure that’s unique to Nissan: The RearView Monitor. When the transmission is shifted into reverse, your Sentra’s display monitor will show a live picture of the area behind your vehicle. This allows you to spot objects or people that may be in your way. Unfortunately, the Elantra’s standard trim does not include this feature.
2021 Sentra vs Elantra: Luxurious Interior Amenities
If you think sedans can’t be spacious, wait until you see the interior cabin of the 2021 Nissan Sentra. This comfortable car is equipped with plenty of space-saving details as well as enough room for everyone to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
For starters, the Sentra has 44 inches of front legroom, which is significantly more than the 42.3 inches of front legroom inside the Elantra. As for riders in the back, the Sentra awards them with 53.3 inches of rear hip room, while Elantra passengers only get 50.5 inches of rear hip room.
You’ll find more tech and connectivity features inside the Sentra as well. For example, Nissan provides Sentra drivers with an available USB-C port for charging across a multitude of compatible devices. You won’t find a USB-C port inside the Hyundai Elantra.
