The Fourth of July brings with it many great traditions that allow Americans to celebrate our country’s independence from Great Britain. For people that live in or around a historic city like Boston, Massachusetts, there are plenty of opportunities to see fireworks for Independence Day this year. The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular is held along the Charles River at the DCR Hatch Shell, which is located off of David G Mugar Way on the Charles River Esplanade. It is one of the most well-known events for residents looking to celebrate Independence Day in Boston. The Pops Fireworks Spectacular is free for the public and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be food, beverages, hats, and t-shirts available for attendees to purchase. Before the fireworks display on the 4th of July there will be a concert from 7:30 PM til 9 PM, and the fireworks will follow from 9:30 PM til 10:00 PM.
The Boston Harborfest Fireworks Cruise
Boston’s Harborfest is a series of events that take place between Wednesday, July 2 and Sunday, July 6. These events celebrate Independence Day with ceremonies, tours, and readings of the Declaration of Independence. On Friday the 4th, Boston locals that want to see fireworks can enjoy the Fireworks cruise that goes from 8:30 PM until 10:30 PM and allows people to see the Pops fireworks in Boston from the deck of tall ships in the Liberty Fleet. A picnic is included with the $125 price of admission for the cruise.
Acton, Massachusetts’ Fireworks Celebration
For people that live outside of Boston, it may be worth a drive to the Independence Day celebration held in Acton, Massachusetts. Acton’s July 4th Celebration is held between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Friday the 4th at NARA Park in Acton. This celebration includes a free concert as well as fireworks in the evening. In the event of rain, the fireworks will be postponed until the next day, Saturday July 5th.
Canton’s July 4th Celebration & Fireworks Display
About 20 miles to the south of Boston, the town of Canton will hold a 4th of July celebration at the town’s Irish Cultural Center. The event begins on Friday the 4th at 5:30 PM, but the fireworks do not begin until 9:00 PM. In addition to the fireworks, there will be face painting, airbrush tattoos, and concessions available for purchase. The event is free to the public.
