For an automobile to legitimately be designated a ‘sports car,’ the two essential prerequisites are high maneuverability and minimum weight. Usually, sports cars have two seats and two doors. Many are convertible, although this is not always so.
Nissan’s first-ever sports car was the Nissan 30, in production from 1969 to 1978. It was marketed as the Nissan Fair Lady and in other markets as the Datsun 240Z (followed by the 260Z and then the 280Z).
Nissan has sports cars today which were created for the enthusiast. The Nissan 370Z is the sixth generation of the Z-line of Nissan sports cars. In production since 2008, its predecessor was the Nissan 350Z.
Known in Japan as the Fairlady Z, the 370Z comes in a 2-door coupe and a 2-door roadster. It is available with an automatic (7-speed) or manual (6-speed) transmission. The engine is a 3.7L VQ37VHR V6. The VQ37VHR was Nissan’s first production engine to use VVEL, Variable Valve Event and Lift.
