2013 Nissan Armada Review
The 2013 Nissan Armada is a full-sized Sport Utility Vehicle with a 5.6-liter, V-8 engine that gives the vehicle excellent towing capacity. It has rear-wheel drive and a 5-speed automatic transmission that can shift into the tow/haul mode of operation. The Armada can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than seven seconds. The most recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel economy estimates for the Armada are 13 miles per gallon (MPG) city, 19 MPG highway and 15 MPG combined city and highway. The 4-door, SV version can carry eight passengers, and it can haul a very generous 97.1 cubic feet of cargo when the rear seat has been folded down.
The interior of the Armada SV comes with amenities such as lighted vanity mirrors for the driver and passenger, cup holders and center armrest in the front, cruise control, dual climate control, AM/FM radio and six-CD changer connected to eight speakers for high-quality sound, leather-trimmed steering wheel, comfortable cloth upholstery, and 12-volt power outlets in the cargo area. For 2013, Nissan introduced three new interior conveniences that come as standard equipment: USB port, Bluetooth connection and a passenger seat with four-way power adjustment.
The overall exterior appearance of the Armada is one of a tough, rugged vehicle. The SV version includes roof rails that come as standard equipment and serve to increase the Armada’s cargo-carrying capacity. Other standard exterior features include undercarriage protection for the engine, tinted glass, heated power mirrors for both driver and passenger front doors and intermittent windshield wipers. A power liftgate and fog lights for the front are two useful features that are available as optional equipment.
To protect the driver and passengers in the event of a side impact crash, the Armada has side curtain airbags for the entire cabin–front, middle and back rows. Side curtain airbags are installed above the side windows, and they automatically drop down to keep passengers’ heads from hitting the windows. The Armada also has driver and passenger front airbags, anti-lock brakes with emergency braking assistance, traction and stability control and parking sensors in the rear.
