At Nissan 24, we know we live in one of the most historically significant areas in the United States. That’s why we went out and uncovered some of the best museums around our area. And there’s certainly no shortage of museums near Brockton, MA.
Fuller Craft Museum, 455 Oak Street, Brockton, MA 02301
The Fuller Craft Museum began in 1946 as a trust fund for an educational art center. Myron Fuller, a Brockton native, put away money to establish the art museum that was eventually built in 1969. In 2004, the museum assumed its current name and began to focus on the collection of contemporary crafts.
Today the Fuller Craft Museum offers exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, and special events in addition to its collection of contemporary crafts. Admission prices start at $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. You can also stop by on Thursdays from 5 to 9 pm when all admission fees are waved.
Brockton Fire Museum, 216 North Pearl Street, Brockton, MA 02301
This historical building was opened in 1992 to preserve the history of firefighting in the Brockton area. Experience what it felt like to be inside a classic Brockton fire station by taking a tour. You’ll also have the chance to see thousands of firefighting artifacts, including a huge hand-tub pumper from the 1850s called “The Protector.”
Blanchard’s Colonial Tavern Museum, 98 North Main Street, Avon, MA 02322
Take a step back in time and see what it was really like to live in a luxurious homestead in 1820. This museum house is full of history and authentic reproductions of period-appropriate furniture and decorations. Admission is always free to the public, and we suggest you check out the candlelight tours for a unique historical experience.
